Can And Will Interracial Relationship Ever Be Normalize

One increasing problem in America under the guise of racism is interracial relationships.
There are still some people that believe black and white relationships are not acceptable. Society plays the biggest role when it comes to problems with interracial relationships. It's natural to want to feel accepted, but having an interracial relationship today can make people feel unaccepted. Most people do not take into consideration the color of their partner, while others take factors of race, skin color, and religion into consideration. Some people may feel uncomfortable interacting with people from different races still to this day. Interracial couples and relationships have experienced trauma and challenges since the slavery days.

In Kindred by Octavia Butler the characters Dana and Kevin experience many challenges of being in an interracial relationship. Both characters were put to the test about their true love for one another. The interracial relationship between Kevin and Dana seemed to be very genuine and real. Dana had in mindset that Kevin would never betray her, even with him being white. When Dana traveled back in time in the 1800s during the slavery days with Kevin, their relationship was tested to its full potential. Even in the 1900s interracial were also tested in the present time.

Butler shows how a lot of interracial relationships can be built on a true love connection based on shared experiences and personality like how Kevin and Dana bond becoming writers, rather than focus on the differences in their history and race. Dana and Kevin relationship is never free from dark effects of racial bias, of being an interracial couple. They each must fight against prejudiced family members and co-workers. Also, being put to the test by playing the master and slaver role. By showing the audience that interracial relationships can be very genuine, instead of thinking that the relationship can be based off one or another using each other or being with each other for the wrong reasons.

My biggest concern is will and can interracial couples be seen and accepted as normality ever.  Interracial couples were never accepting and looked at as just to people in love that share common personality and interest as Dana and Kevin. I believe that the interracial couple will never be accepted as being normal due to the dark past of white and black. Alot a lot of blacks still look at whites the same a slavery days and a lot of whites still look at blacks the same as well. Sometimes I think it’s because many people still believe in the concept of racial purity.

Some people still feel like anything that threatens their race can be dangerous to their society and race. People are very much afraid of interracial relationships being normalizing due to the fact it will make everyone turn brown or beige in the future. I believe that another reason that people hate to see interracial relationships is because they feel that it is something that they would not do so it shouldn't be normalized based on their thoughts and feelings of the past. Kevin and Dana do give us future wishful thinking in which blacks and whites are equal and can have a great chance at a normal true loving relationship between both blacks and whites. I believe that if interracial relationships are not normalized, they will never be fully accepted.
